Pros and cons of Collins Russian-English app for iPhone and iPad

Collins Russian-English app good for

Im very happy with this app. Helped me a lot! I think is the best Russian-English/ English-Russian.
I love this app. If you are studying Russian I recommend this as your starting point.
Great dictionary - very functional, user friendly with huge vocabulary. A bit pricey, but still good value for money.

Some bad moments

Its a pity that the interface of this app is in French while it is a French/Russian dictionary, but even more when the French of this interface is so bad that it constantly shows you a terrible language BIG MISTAKE on the top of the screen: "russie->anglais". The word "russie" just does not exist in French!!! The correct word here is "russe", which means Russian. There is also the word "Russie" (with always a capital letter at the begining) which means Russia. I regret that I paid so much for an app which was not properly finished, at least in this horrible French version, and there is not even a setting to set the language interface to English.
Collins does it again! This is my fourth Collins dictionary (I also have Italian, Spanish, and French) and I have yet to be disappointed. I used to carry around bulky dictionaries. Not only is this more compact... It also gives many phrases and examples that youll actually use. Its easy to get the Russian keyboard on your iTouch/phone.
Ultralingua acts as a dictionary where you can search for words and phrase but it also provides other tools to help you learn and practice the language as well. The one thing to point out, this is more of a dictionary. You can type in a few phrases but need to plan to stick to single words. The app didnt offer phonetic translation and didnt have audio clips. Frankly, it was useless on my trip to Russia and Im rather annoyed I paid so much for it. Again, how do you pronounce an upside down h? The bottom line, without phonetic translation or text to speech how can you really use it?
This is easily the best Russian dictionary app. A lot of care was put into making the interface clean and intuitive. The only issue is that its clumsy to close definitions. You open a definition by tapping on the word, but to close you have to click on a little "arrows" button on the other side of the screen. The definitions also stay open forever, so after awhile a bunch of definitions are open. Id expect them to be closed automatically at some point, like when you open the app.
I love this app!! Whenever Im reading articles on my phone I can easily look up all the words that I dont understand. It also includes verb conjugations and some word usage. Great app!
